The Shenyang J-15 Flying Shark is a Chinese development of their J-11B fighter jet for deployment on the Chinese Shi Lang (ex-Varyag) aircraft carrier. The J-15 Flying Shark uses has folding wings, shortened tail to maximise the number of aircraft which can be carried by the aircraft carrier.
Reinforced structure and undercarriage will allow J-15 to takeoff and land from an aircraft carrier. The J-15 will use all Chinese developed avionics, (AESA?) radar, composite materials. It will be armed with PL-12 Beyond Visual Range Air-to-Air Missile (BVRAAM), PL-8 WVRAAM, YJ-83 (C-803) Anti-ship missile and a large viraty of Chinese precision guided missiles (PGM).

China intentó adquirir un lote de aviones rusos embarcables en el exportaviones Soviético Varyag ahora conocido como Shi Lang. Los rusos se negaron por ser contraproducente para sus propios intereses.
China posteriormente adquirió unos de los prototipos del programa Soviético Su-27K, la versión embarcada del Su-27 Flanker. El Su-27K acabó conociendose como Su-33.
Apartir de ese prototipo clonó el diseño y consiguió el Shenyang J-15 que vemos en esta entrada que no es más que un Sujoi Su-33 ruso.
Actualmente el J-15 es una más de las razones por las que China no consigue que la Federación Rusa le exporte tecnología avanzada. Por ejemplo, el Su-35.
